The tarot reader begins a reading by dealing a series of cards from the deck and placing them in an arrangement called a spread. Each card in the spread is interpreted by the reader based on its face value and position in the spread. The spread position indicates a different aspect of the question posed.
The single card tarot is used to provide a concise reading, keeping the focus succinct and to the point. This type of reading can be helpful when requiring a more defined answer, it’s like looking at reading under a magnifying glass!
(The Past): This card represents your situation—why you’re currently in the spot you’re in. It often symbolizes a person or relationship in your life that has influenced your question.
(The Present): This card represents the current problem, often as a direct result of the situation. Pay close attention to this card as it may be trying to show you things that you’ve previously overlooked.
The 3rd Card (The Future): The final card in this 3-card spread provides guidance to face and overcome your issue. It may provide options you hadn’t considered or resources and people you’d overlooked.
The spreads we're focusing on here today are meant to be used to get a different perspective on the loves and the relationships in your lives. For the most part, we're focusing on romantic relationships, but some of these can also be used for relationships in general, or adapted to be used that way. We're going to be listing these in the order from the simplest to the most complex.
